Switch Goes to ICFF

Hello, Everyone!

Switch has returned from New York! It’s only fitting that we share some of our experiences at ICFF with you!

ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) is an event that occurs once a year. This year it boasted of 629 exhibits featuring manufactures from 38 different countries. The exhibits showcase everything from furniture to flooring and wall covering, and of course, lighting! Every year architects, designers, retailers, manufactures, and merchandisers come from all over to attend ICFF and get a peek at all of the fantastic new products! Drew and Bertie were very excited to have the opportunity to attend this year!

Introducing Pablo Lighting at Switch!

Hello, Friends!

We here at Switch are excited to announce that we have a new addition to our lighting family! We now carry Pablo Lighting!

The Disapearing Act: Using Minimal Lighting

Not all fantastic lighting needs to be the center of attention. Sometimes the fact that it’s not the center of attention is part of what makes it so fantastic. Maybe you have a wonderful view or a great architectural space, and you don’t want to draw attention away from those details.

Here are some of our favorite products that seem to ‘disappear’ into their surroundings. They don’t draw your eye away from the rest of the space, but they do add a subtle design element that will enhance it.

DAAP Student Showcase (April 25 2014)

Last Final Friday Switch hosted the final Student Showcase for third year DAAP Industrial Design Students!

Professor Peter Chamberlain describes the assignment:

“The third year Industrial Design Studio course at the University of Cincinnati college of DAAP recently took on the challenge of creating unique new residential lighting concepts. Steeped in background understanding about the science of light, realities of distribution and point of purchase environments, production and materials constraints, and informed about user needs and wants, the students tackled the complex project remarkably well.”

The showcase was a huge success and the students’ works were nothing short of fantastic! Switch is grateful to have had a part from start to finish in this project. Bertie and Drew provided feedback and advice for the students at different stages of their design process along with Professor Chamberlain. The students definitely did not disappoint!

Switch would like to thank everyone who came out and supported the students and their projects!

New in Our Window! (Lighthouse Oil Lamp)

If you take a stroll by our showroom, you may notice something new in our window! The Lighthouse Oil Lamp, designed by Christian Bjorn! These lovely lamps are equipped with a newly developed oil burner that really lights up the night. ‘This oil lamp doesn’t burn with just a little flame, it burns like a fantastic bonfire!” says Bjorn. Furthermore, the Lighthouse Oil Lamps have a unique filling system that makes it possible to fill the oil from above, so there’s no need to take the lamp apart.

We have a number of these in stock just in time for Mother’s Day, so be sure to stop in and check them out!
